Guest author Amie Denman talks about boxed sets

Have you noticed that boxed sets are all the rage this year? Please welcome my friend Amie Denman as she shares her experience being part of a boxed sets of books.

Hi May! Thanks for hosting me today and helping me spread the word about the boxed setUnforgettableHeroes-final-3D-LG Unforgettable Heroes which includes my full-length novel Will Work for Love. Being included in the set has been a fantastic journey for me so far! In addition to being a great value for readers at the bargain price of $.99 for 8 full-length contemporary romances, it has been a very valuable experience for me as a relatively new author. When my publisher, Turquoise Morning Press, first put out the call for interested authors for the set, I submitted my contemporary romance Will Work for Love because the hero of that book is one of my favorite heroes I’ve written. I was thrilled to be selected for inclusion in the set because I knew I was in great company. The other authors were all more established and successful than I was, so I hoped to learn from them and enjoy being in good company. The greatest lesson I have learned is the value of social media and having a marketing plan. For my past book releases, I sat back and hoped people would find my book. With the number of quality books and authors out there, it wasn’t a realistic plan. My co-authors on this set are women with a plan and great connections. We’ve been invited to guest on blogs, been included in ads, received reviews, enjoyed an exponential social media presence, and met many great bloggers and readers. What a whirlwind! And we’re not done yet. Our book has been out about a month and it continues to climb in the Amazon rankings. For a newer author like me to find herself in the top #100 Contemporary Romance authors on Amazon, it requires a second (or fifteenth) look and a very nerdy but excited screenshot:

What makes it even sweeter is that ALL EIGHT of the authors in the set landed in the top #100 today, many of us side by side as you see in the above picture. This brings me to the most important thing I’ve learned from being included in a boxed set. Friendship, connections, and promoting each other is as good for the soul as it is for the sales. Even though our readers are getting a great price on a great set of books–thank you readers!–the experience has been invaluable for me so far.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAAmie Denman lives in a small town in her native Ohio with her husband and sons. Her two cats and large yellow labrador are kind enough to share a sunny office where she lets her imagination run wild. Reading books was her favorite escape as a child, and growing up four houses away from the community library encouraged her addiction. When she’s not reading or writing, she enjoys walking and running outside. The helpless victim of a lifetime of curiosity, she’s been known to chase fire trucks on her bicycle just to see what’s going on. Amie believes that everything is fun: especially roller coasters, wedding cake, and falling in love.
